It was a calm day, and the sky was layered with high clouds. I came across two people from Ishikawa Prefecture (pictured), who were doing warm-up exercises before skiing, and told me, “We stayed at the Hotel Green Plaza Hakuba last night. It’s been a few years since I’ve been here, and this is my girlfriend’s first time. The conditions are very good for skiing, so it’s really nice!”
The beautifully-groomed Ipponmatsu Course (pictured) had a fantastic, moderately firm powder snow surface, and I had no trouble repeating comfortable and controlled turns! I met a skier from Australia (pictured) who said he’s been staying at Hotel Green Plaza Hakuba for two weeks and skiing throughout his stay.
The Ikenota Slope, with its wide groomed slopes, also had moderately firm powder snow conditions, while the Ikenota Rinkan Course (pictured) had a groomed wet snow surface that gave the impression of powder. With it being a weekday in January, visitor turnout was slow, and the beautiful corduroy patterns pressed into the snow surface were preserved for quite some time.

“We come to Cortina every year to ski. We stayed two nights at the Hotel Green Plaza Hakuba and are returning today, but we were blessed with good snow quality during our time here,” said a family from Aichi Prefecture. Both the Rabbit Course (pictured) and the Snake Course were groomed with firm wet snow surfaces.
