In addition to outdoor activity options, ASOBI GARDEN has plenty to offer in terms of indoor activities as well. For example, in the Laser Maze (pictured), players have to weave their way through a web of laser beams to retrieve a jewel from the far end of the room. Tackling it as a group adds another layer of fun, as you can watch how the person ahead of you navigates the course and adjust your own strategy accordingly. Whether you succeed or not, everyone receives a small prize for their efforts (candy, etc…).

The AR Sandbox is an interactive attraction combining white sand with augmented reality technology. As the sand is shaped, lower areas turn blue like water while raised areas appear green, with the landscape changing instantly as you move the sand around. A family from Saitama Prefecture (pictured) told me, “We’ve been to NASPA several times, but this is our first time trying the attractions. It’s great that there’s so much to do indoors—not only for rainy days, but for when it’s too hot outside as well.”

Elsewhere, visitors of all ages were completely absorbed in Eight Shot (pictured), a shooting-gallery game where prizes are awarded according to your score. Another popular attraction is 9D VR (pictured, rear left in the second photo), where you put on a VR headset and settle into a specially designed capsule chair for an immersive virtual-reality experience. Other indoor attractions include The Zombie House, table tennis, Jenga, and a craft room.

Additionally, magic shows by magician Toshi are being held 7/18 to 7/20, 8/8 to 8/10, and on 9/22 & 9/23, with six performances each day (pictured). On this occasion, he performed a series of impressive close-up tricks, many using playing cards. Yo-yo performance shows are also scheduled for 8/5 to 8/7, 8/21 to 8/23, and 9/19 to 9/21.
