On 10/9 (Thu.), the Asahikawa Local Meteorological Observatory announced the first snow of the season on Daisetsuzan’s Mt. Asahi (2,291 m). This comes 14 days later than average (9/25), but 11 days earlier than last year (10/20). In addition, the season’s first snowfall was recorded in the town of Kutchan, Hokkaido (according to the Sapporo District Meteorological Observatory) on the morning of 10/10 (Fri.).
