Tsugaike Mountain Resort’s “Tsugaike Mystery Solving Trekking” event, which runs through the final day of summer operations on 10/25 (Sun.), now features a new expert-level “Challenge Course”! On this occasion, a staff member took me around to show me how the event works. Step one was purchasing a “Mystery Solving Kit” (pictured, ¥500) at the Ticket Center on the first floor of Village Tsugaike.

With the Mystery Solving Kit in hand, I was about to head straight for the gondola when the staff member accompanying me (pictured) stopped me and said, “Not so fast! Clues for the Challenge Course are already hidden around the gondola base station. You need to find and use those clues to start solving the mysteries while riding the Tsugaike Gondola and Tsugaike Ropeway.” The Beginner Course, meanwhile, takes place entirely within Tsugaike Nature Park.

“Tsugaike Mystery Solving Trekking” was created through a collaboration between OMOMO Co., Ltd., which specializes in interactive events, and Nekkoko!, a student group made up primarily of Shinshu University students. The staff member who joined me today has been involved since the initial planning stage and told me, “OMOMO, Nekkoko!, and Tsugaike all contributed ideas, and we developed the event through a long series of meetings. We hope the mystery-solving experience will help people discover even more of what makes Tsugaike Nature Park special!”

For both the Beginner and Challenge courses, the mystery-solving area extends as far as the Watasuge Marsh. Before we wrapped things up, the staff member (pictured) had one final message: “The exclusive sticker you receive for completing each course has a different design. Complete both and you’ll also receive an exclusive pin! They’re all secret designs, so I can’t show you what they look like (laughs). You’ll have to take part and find out for yourself!”
