Goryu47 REPORT

2023.12.1465cm / Partly Cloudy

On this windless, pleasantly cool morning, the Alps-Daira area was covered with a thin layer of fog. As for conditions, the Panorama Course (pictured) featured a firmly groomed wet snow surface that my skis slid across well. Once again I ran into the same two snowboarders I met yesterday from Nagano City (pictured). They were the first off the chair lift and started their run through the fog, but it quickly lifted to reveal blue skies.

As the fog faded away we were greeted with a wonderful sea of clouds in the eastern sky. The Ushiro-Tateyama Mountain Range, Mt. Hiuchi, and the surrounding peaks in all directions could be seen clearly, and I noticed people getting off the lift and snapping photos with their smartphones before starting down the slopes. With the Grand Prix Course ungroomed again today, the Panorama Course and the upper portion of Route 8 were getting busier.

The upper half of Route 8 (pictured) was nicely groomed, with a firm wet snow surface. Despite continued warm temperatures and no significant new snowfall since 12/4 (Mon.), there were no exposed bushes or thin patches of snow on either the Panorama Course or the upper portion of Route 8 (pictured). Runs on the Hakuba47 side of the mountain were also ungroomed today, except for the upper portion of Route 8.

I was greeted by a group of three skiers (pictured) from Shimane Prefecture, Shizuoka Prefecture, and Hakuba Village, who told me they were fans of Snownavi. They also commented, “We met each other for the first time on the slopes, and now we’re skiing together. The conditions today are better than yesterday.” Some of the trees around the Line-E boarding area and in the middle of the mountain were covered in beautiful white rime ice.
