On 2/24 (Sat.) and 2/25 (Sun.), Hakuba Sports is sponsoring a 2024-25 Boots & Bindings Test Ride event (pictured, foreground) and an Ogasaka Snowboard Test Ride event (pictured, background) next to the 6th Pair boarding area. At the boot and binding test ride tent, visitors can try out 6 brands of bindings including DRAKE, FLOW, and FLUX, as well as boots from Northwave, Nidecker, and others – all for free. (*Registration required, 30 minutes per item)

The Ogasaka Snowboard Test Ride (*free of charge, ID required, 30 minutes per board) had a total of 15 new models / 84 boards available to try. The event was a great success, and only a few snowboards remained at the venue around 10:30 (pictured, foreground), with a line of people waiting for boards to come back.

I was greeted by two of the test-ride participants, and one of them, a snowboarder from Chiba Prefecture (pictured, left), told me, “I love your site! This is my second run, and I’m testing out the XC since it just became available.” The other snowboarder was from Nagano Prefecture (pictured, right), and added, “This is my third run, and I’m going to ride the FC-S that I’ve had my eye on.”

The Paradise Slope had a well-packed, groomed granular snow surfaces, while the Paradise Dowhhill also had a groomed granular snow base, though it was harder packed. Being the middle day of a three-day weekend, both the upper and lower parking lots along Route 148 were full. However, the slopes were not as crowded as I would have expected, and the wait time for the 2nd Quad and 6th Pair was only about 1 minute each.
