Cortina REPORT

2025.12.0460 cm / Snow Clouds

Back on 11/19 (Wed.), 10 to 15 cm of wet snow accumulated on the Ikenota Slope. Afterward, only light snowfall fell on 11/26 (Wed.) and 11/29 (Sat.), which meant the base depth temporarily returned to zero. However, the strongest cold air mass of the season swept in yesterday and brought far more snow to Cortina than expected, and by the morning of 12/4 (Thu.), about 25 cm of deep, fluffy new snow had built up in front of Hotel Green Plaza Hakuba (pictured)!

On the Ikenota Slope and the Ipponmatsu Course (pictured, background), the tops of silver grass were still visible sticking up through the snow in places, but it already looked skiable if I had brought my gear. Hiking up to the upper part of the Kamoshika Course revealed about 40 cm of new snow, and a staff member I met told me, “It finally happened. We’re getting everything ready for the 12/13 (Sat.) opening.”
