HAPPO PARKS -NATURES-, now in its fourth season, opened today along the Kita-One 3 Pair! The full team of diggers (pictured) were on hand this morning and shared, “Thanks again for your support this season! To everyone using Snownavi, we really hope you come by and enjoy the park!”

Despite the unseasonably warm weather over the past couple of days, HAPPO PARKS (pictured), with its north-facing aspect, offered well-set groomed powder where edges bit cleanly. I ran into Mr. Kitae, owner of GARAGE902 and a professional snowboarder, who said, “HAPPO PARKS is fun even if you’re just cruising—take your time and find the line you like.”

I also crossed paths with Hakuba-based K2 rider Shimon Tanaka (pictured) who told me, “The board is really running well. I carried more speed than expected on my first hit and overshot it. Not only is the feature quality high, but there are so many different lines—it’s fun just figuring out where and how to ride.” Big, high airs were on display from riders on the kickers and spines throughout the park.

Once HAPPO PARKS OPENING DAY got underway at 10:00, the upbeat tracks from the DJ set the tone and I found my eyes glued to the guest riders, whose smooth, flowing line choices and tricks were a joy to watch. By the way, tomorrow, 1/18 (Sun.), is “Kids’ Ski Day,” with free lift rides for elementary school students all day.
