An ID one ski Demo event (pictured; ¥1,000 with advance registration, ¥1,500 day of; ID required) is currently being held near the Nakiyama No. 3 Triple lift base on 2/14 (Sat.) and 2/15 (Sun.). Participants can test as many skis as they like, with about 40 minutes per pair as a guideline. A total of 51 sets of skis are available, including: 9 freeride models, 7 mogul ride models, 4 slow ride models, and 3 technical ride models.

I spoke with a staff member who commented, “At Happo, the freeride and technical ride models are especially popular.” Incidentally, in the ongoing Milano-Cortina Olympics freestyle ski moguls event, all six male and female medalists—including bronze medalist Ikuma Horishima—are using ID one skis.

Meanwhile, in front of Usagidaira Terrace (pictured), the 26–27 OGASAKA SKI New Model Demo is being held on the same two days (free; ID required; about 30 minutes per set). All five models for next season, totaling 38 pairs, were brought in, but with over 100 advance registrations, only a few skis remained at the special event booth during my reporting. I met a skier from Toyama Prefecture who said, “I registered in advance and tested three pairs this morning. I’ll try a few more this afternoon.”

At the OAKLEY BASE inside Usagidaira Terrace, visitors can also try on goggles for about 30 minutes. It’s a great opportunity to check visibility, fit, and compatibility with helmets out on the slopes. Just before noon, the Riesen Slalom Course had a groomed granular snow surface that felt loose and chunky, while the Nakiyama Slope had groomed wet snow with a softened, slightly slushy surface.
