As of 3/30 (Mon.), only three resorts remain open in the HAKUBA VALLEY: Tsugaike, Happo, and Goryu47. The morning started off warm, with patches of sunshine and no wind, and skiing without a jacket felt just right. Along the Han-no-ki High-Speed Pair (pictured), the slightly soft, groomed granular snow allowed my skis to run smoothly.

The clouds began to clear around 9:00 a.m., and temperatures rose further, bringing a mild, spring-like feel. On the Han-no-ki Slope (pictured), the soft granular surface layer deepened the farther down I skied, and by the lower section it started to slow things down. Snow coverage ends just before the gondola mid-station, so to continue to the base you either need to remove your skis and walk to the Oya-no-hara Slope or take the gondola down from the mid-station.

I met a family from Hiroshima Prefecture (pictured) who told me, “We skied at a resort in Okumino on 3/28 (Sat.) and 3/29 (Sun.). Snow coverage was barely holding up there, but Tsugaike is great because there’s still plenty of snow up top.” TG PARKS closed today, 3/30 (Mon.), as snowmelt has progressed, and a spring park is scheduled to open along the Han-no-ki High-Speed Pair around 4/9 (Thu.) to 4/10 (Fri.).

On the skier’s right side in the midsection along the Han-no-ki High-Speed Pair, the banked slalom course (pictured) for the “2026 BANKED SLALOM TGK” event scheduled for 4/5 (Sat.) and 4/6 (Sun.), is already in place. It is open to the public, and I saw several riders taking laps on it.
