During the three-day holiday weekend from 2/21 (Sat.) to 2/23 (Mon., public holiday), “Early Morning Special Operations” were held at Jigatake, with the 1st Pair lift starting at 7:30 a.m., giving skiers early access to the Echo Slope (pictured). This second day of the holiday weekend brought more calm, sunny weather. The Echo Slope was fully groomed from edge to edge, and the well-compacted, moist snow surface offered fast, smooth, and very easy skiing conditions.

I met a family visiting from Aichi Prefecture who told me, “We came for a day trip to have fun with our dog Okiku-chan (pictured, center). After skiing, we’re planning to enjoy the snowy scenery while soaking in the hot springs of the Omachi Onsenkyo area.” The forested Rinkan (Dog Run) Course, where guests can ski with their dogs, featured firmly packed, slightly harder moist groomed snow. Incidentally, lift tickets for dogs are priced the same as for children aged 3 through junior high school.

The Kids Park (pictured) also had the same well-compacted, moist groomed snow as the other runs. There I met a mother from Kanagawa Prefecture (pictured) who told me, “We came out with another family, and this is our second visit to Jigatake this season. We like that there’s a place for small children to play, and the slopeside parking is free.” Even as the crowds grew, the spacious park allowed plenty of room for sledding without feeling crowded.

Admission to the Kids Park (pictured) is ¥300 per person for the day (free for lift ticket holders). The “Troika” was operating beside the park, making it easy to travel back uphill with sleds in hand (¥200 for a single ride, JPY2,000 for an 11-ride ticket, free for lift ticket holders). From 2/21 (Sat.) to 2/23 (Mon., public holiday), the restaurant inside the Center House (pictured, background) hosted a collaboration event with Northern Alps Brewery TAPROOM and Bakery’s Kitchen ohana Northern Alps store, offering a free morning service. Starting at 7:00 a.m., visitors received complimentary “shio-pan” (salt bread) and in-house-roasted coffee at the Center House restaurant (limited to 200 sets each day).
