Happo-one REPORT

2026.03.17215 cm / Sunny

Yesterday, Kochi, Gifu, and Kofu were the first in the country to report the blooming of Somei Yoshino cherry blossoms, and all were running more than a week ahead of last year. Here at Happo, however, recent overnight and early-morning cold temperatures have allowed snowmaking to continue on Usagidaira, the Riesen Slalom Course, and the Panorama Course. This morning brought a calm, sunny start to the day with crisp, refreshing air.
[Riesen Slalom Course]

The Riesen Slalom Course (pictured) featured well-set groomed granular snow with a slightly moist surface early on, and a few centimeters of soft man-made snow had been laid down across the mid to lower sections. The surface feel changed slightly partway down, but the run carried speed well from top to bottom.

Along the Kurobishi Quad (pictured), the slope held moderately firm groomed wet snow. Here at Snownavi, the term “powder” refers to snow with very low moisture content that won’t pack when squeezed, so even “wet snow” still represents quite good snow quality. The Skyline Course had well-set groomed granular snow, but the surface gradually softened the farther I skied down.

Usagidaira’s South Side Route featured well-set groomed granular snow with a slightly moist surface. Along the Kurobishi 3 Pair and the Alpen Quad, firm medium-to-large moguls were stacked across the slope, and conditions were prime for taking them on. On the south side of Usagidaira Terrace (pictured), the “Usagidaira Kids Park” has been set up since 3/14 (Sat.). (※Free entry, opens at 10:00 a.m.).
