At the top of the resort around 8:00 a.m., thick fog hung over the area as light snow drifted in on a northwest wind. I met a man from Shizuoka (pictured) who told me, “I always read your reports! This season has been really fulfilling—I got to ski powder and watch some skilled skiers up close. I’ll be back again while there’s still snow.”

The runs along the Kurobishi Quad (pictured), the Skyline Course, and the Panorama Course had soft, loose granular surfaces from the start. Visibility was limited, but a light layer of moist new snow sat on top, and my skis ran well. At Usagidaira, the entire slope—including the south-facing route—was ungroomed.

By the way, the only route that allowed you to ski all the way down to the base—Riesen Slalom → Nakiyama Public—closed on 3/31 (Mon.), and as of yesterday, 4/1 (Wed.), the number of open runs has been reduced to six: Riesen Grat, Kurobishi, Usagidaira, Skyline, Panorama, and Urakuro. In addition, both Riesen Grat and Urakuro were closed this morning due to poor weather.

As for on-mountain facilities, Adam Plaza, Cafeteria YETI, Usagidaira Terrace’s “SHOP TENKU,” Pilar, and 500 Miles remain open (※the Sun Terrace Panorama is open for restroom use only). At Adam Plaza, three guests who told me they always used Snownavi each picked out their favorite T-shirt for me. A woman from Kanagawa (pictured, right) said, “I like this one because the fabric feels great,” a woman from Niigata (pictured, left) commented, “I like this one because the ‘Gakujin’ lettering looks cool,” and a man from Omachi City (pictured, center) added, “Pink actually suits me pretty well.”
