The “BLASTRACK & OGASAKA SKI 26–27 NEW MODEL TEST RIDE” event is taking place in front of the Usagidaira Terrace (※free to participate; ID required) from 4/3 (Fri.) to 4/5 (Sun.). I spoke with a staff member who told me, “We’ve brought about 100 pairs of next season’s models out to the event. For everyone who reads Snownavi, be sure to come give them a try.” The “Spring Festival” is also coming up on 4/5 (Sun.)!

This morning, under calm, sunny skies, temperatures rose quickly. The south-facing route on Usagidaira (pictured) and the Panorama Course had soft, loose groomed granular conditions. Snow coverage was solid on the Usagidaira south route, but on the Panorama Course there were exposed patches of ground near the top on the north side and again toward the end along the Kokusai 3 Pair.

The run along the Kurobishi Quad (pictured) had a soft, loose groomed granular surface. Like the Usagidaira south route, there were no thin snow spots, my skis ran well, and I was able to link smooth, comfortable turns. On the ungroomed runs along the Alpen Quad and the Kurobishi 3 Pair, medium- to large-sized moguls had formed, and were just soft enough to stay skiable.

The Skyline Course had soft, loose granular groomed snow that became more and more broken up the farther down I skied, turning chunkier near the bottom. There were exposed patches of ground mid-course and thin snow coverage near the end. The Riesen Grat Course will close for the season today at 2:00 p.m. in order to protect the underlying vegetation. (※The Grat Quad will continue operating for sightseeing and mountaineering).
