A strong winter weather pattern moved in overnight, bringing the season’s first snowfall to Tsugaike Mountain Resort on 10/28 (Wed.), the same date as last season! Strong northwesterly winds brought occasional blizzard-like conditions, and the temperature at the Tsugaike Ropeway base station (pictured) was just 1°C this morning. A decent amount of wet snow had accumulated across the slopes.

The snow depth was around 2 cm on the Tsuga-no-mori Slope (pictured), 1 to 2 cm along the lower section of the Han-no-ki High-Speed Pair Lift, and 1 to 2 cm from the middle to lower section of the Gotenba Course. While I was there, rain was falling at the base, while snow was falling from around the steep middle section of the Han-no-ki Slope and upward. This season, Tsugaike has installed 18 new snow cannons and is scheduled to open on 12/1 (Tue.)!
