Madarao REPORT

2026.03.2890 cm / Sunny

Today and tomorrow mark the final two days of the 2025–26 season at Madarao Kogen Ski Resort. Even though a few spots have begun to show exposed ground, all open runs still have plenty of snow coverage, and grooming remains dialed in right to the very end. Under hazy skies today, the FreeRidePark (pictured) and Giant both started the day with loose, softened corn snow on groomed surfaces.

I met two guests from Aichi Prefecture (pictured), with one of them telling me, “I saw someone skiing Paradise looking really good and thought I recognized them—turns out it was Snownavi! Today’s corn snow is fantastic.” On Paradise, where the groomed corn snow had already begun to soften around the 8:00 a.m. opening, there was a small patch of exposed ground near the top, but it didn’t affect skiing.

Although the lift along the Crystal Course has already closed, you can still access the mid-to-lower sections of Crystal via the Super Quad and other lifts. I spoke with a man from Gunma Prefecture (pictured, left) who told me, “I always read your reports. I was hoping for a slightly firmer surface first thing this morning, but the skis still ran well.” Around 9:00 a.m., Crystal (pictured) was in the early stages of softening into corn snow, with skier’s right side—which is shaded for longer—remaining a bit firmer.

At the hidden-gem Pole Course A, a father from Tokyo (pictured), visiting with his family, told me, “We come to Madarao almost every weekend so my child can take lessons. The school here teaches not only skiing technique but also proper slope etiquette.” That Madarao Sports Academy will also wrap up tomorrow, 3/29 (Sun.).
