This morning, I met four season pass holders from Nagano City, Nakano City, and Kijimadaira Village who told me, “We came to enjoy what snow is left, and we plan to keep skiing as long as there’s snow.” Under calm, warm, sunny skies, the Yamabiko D Course (pictured) and C Course both had soft granular groomers from the start of the day today, with a loose, spring-like surface.

This weekend brought a lively scene, with the “Fischer Racing Camp 2026” taking place on Yamabiko B (pictured), the “Atomic Racing Camp” on Kokenashi B, and the “26 OGASAKA Spring Camp” on Paradise. I ran into a family from Aichi Prefecture (pictured) who told me, “We always read your reports! Our son, who’s in 6th grade, has been taking part in the Fischer Racing Camp that started yesterday. He’s working hard with the goal of competing in the National Sports Festival.”

The Paradise Slope (pictured), which marks its final day of operation for the season today, 4/19 (Sun.), had a soft, groomed granular surface. A few patches of exposed ground showed in parts of the upper and mid sections of the run (but had no impact on skiing), and the lower section narrowed to about the width of two grooming machines. The snow surface was dirty throughout, which slowed the skis noticeably.

The Uenotaira Slope had slightly cleaner snow than Paradise, but it still skied slow on soft granular groomed snow that created noticeable drag. The snow park (pictured) also closes today, 4/19 (Sun.). Starting 4/21 (Tue.), a hike-up park with rails and boxes is scheduled to open on the lower section of Yamabiko B.
