Four lifts will be operating at Nozawa Onsen from 4/13 (Mon.) to 4/17 (Fri.)—the Nagasaka Gondola, the Yamabiko Four, the Yamabiko No. 2 Four, and the Uenotaira Four—serving a total of eight runs: Yamabiko A to E, Kokenashi A and B, and Uenotaira. The Paradise Slope is planned to open on weekends only going forward, although it may close for the season early depending on snow conditions. It was a warm start to the morning today, and I started to feel the heat as soon as I got moving.

Soft granular groomers on the Yamabiko C, D, and E Courses (first photo) provided smooth glide and consistent speed. Over on the Kokenashi Slope (pictured), the groomed surface had also softened into granular snow, with some visible dirt on the snowpack. At the very bottom, beginner snowboarders were working hard on their turns.

The snow park (pictured) remains open on the Family Lane. Up top, features included waves, two 3 m kickers, a rainbow box, a box & rail, a wide box, and a flat rail, while the lower section offered an 8 m kicker and a flat rail. The gentle pitch combined with the spacious layout made it feel approachable and easy to lap.

While I was there, many riders were linking the wave into the two 3 m kickers. I watched as a Bluemoris rider (pictured) was putting down clean hits on both the rainbow box and the 8 m kicker (pictured). Even within the park, the soft granular snow continued to run well, helping skiers keep good speed through each feature.
