Today and tomorrow, the JIBA Japan Ita-Ita Board Association is holding a cosplay event at Iwatake. In other news, heavy snowfall since yesterday afternoon has brought the officially announced snow depth at Hakuba Iwatake to 210 cm, the highest this season! This morning, dense, dry snow was falling, with intermittent strong gusts of wind.

I spoke with a family from Aichi Prefecture (pictured), who told me, “We love your site! Iwatake got a lot of snow! I keep getting stuck in the ungroomed areas.” The ungroomed portion of the South Slope (pictured) and FIVE SIDE had around 40 to 50 cm of new snow! On the other hand, the groomed areas had 10 to 20 cm of fresh snow on top of moderately soft, powder snow bases that made for excellent skiing conditions.

I came across a cosplayer (pictured) who told me they were a fan of Snownavi, and commented, “It’s really coming down today, isn’t it? By the way, I’m actually a girl.” And yes, the overwhelming majority of people at cosplay events are men. The two beautiful cosplayers in the first photo were also men.
[Sunny Valley Course]

The ungroomed shortcut (pictured, formerly called Hilltop) going from the South Slope to the Sawa Course also had 40 to 50 cm of fresh, fluffy snow! The groomed Sunny Valley Course had about 15 cm of fresh snow, and the top half had a moderately soft powder snow base, while the second half had a firmer, wet snow surface that included a mix of artificial snow.
