Kurumayama, known for its wide-open terrain, attracts hikers and climbers in summer aiming for the 1,925m summit of Kirigamine’s highest peak, one of Japan’s 100 Famous Mountains, and in winter it comes alive with skiers and snowboarders enjoying Kurumayama Kogen SKYPARK. After last night’s snowfall, the snow clouds began to lift this morning, 11/26 (Wed.), and blue skies spread overhead, revealing a sweeping view of the entire mountain freshly blanketed in white.

At the bottom of the ski area, the Family Course (pictured) had a moist layer of fresh snow measuring about 3 to 5cm. During the season, the lower section of this course is home to Adventure Land, a snow-play area for children. (*Admission for ages 3 and up is JPY1,500 on weekdays and JPY2,500 on weekends and holidays.) The area will include a sledding-only slope, a tubing course, and a play zone filled with various toys and equipment.

I crossed paths with a staff member from the Kurumayama Kogen SKYPARK rental shop (pictured), who called out to me saying, “Hey wait, are you from Snownavi? I always follow your reports!. We’re getting everything ready for the start of the season. We have a lot of new skis and snowboards available this winter, so we hope visitors this season will take advantage of them!”
