This morning, I spoke with a skier from Aichi (pictured) who told me, “I always read your reports. I slept in my car last night, but the sound of the rain kept me up. Today we’ve got groomed granular snow that skis well, but I can’t carry much speed with this fog.” Light rain was falling, and dense fog covered the Mountain Side.

Spring discounts started at Iwatake on 3/16 (Mon.), bringing one-day ticket prices down to ¥5,300 for adults and ¥2,700 for elementary school students between now and the final day of the season on 3/29 (Sun.). With the Kamo 1 lift now closed, the 3-Line North lift has reopened, and seven runs are currently available to visitors: Sawa, South, East, VIEW C, VIEW D, Sunny Valley, and North. I ran into a snowboarder from Matsukawa Village (pictured) who commented, “I always use Snownavi, but this is my first time running into you!”
[North Slope]
The East Slope and North Slope both had loose, groomed granular snow. On the North Slope, crews were building the course for the “2026 Hakuba Paradise Slalom” event scheduled for 3/21 (Sat.). Event producer Noboru Konno (pictured, third from the left) told me, “I always read your reports. The course is shaping up really well, so we hope everyone’s looking forward to it.”

Warm, sunny weather on 3/17 (Tue.) and 3/18 (Wed.) (pictured), along with rain since yesterday evening, has accelerated snowmelt. On the South Slope, which had a loose, groomed granular snow surface, snow coverage thinned noticeably from the midsection down. On Sunny Valley, a south-facing section mid-course had melted out, forcing skiers to remove their skis briefly.
