The Crumpet Cafe offers two terrace seating areas (pictured) in addition to its indoor tables, both with spectacular views. Each is a compact space that fits almost entirely within the frame of the photo, giving it a pleasantly private feel. Guests are free to use the terraces for around 30 minutes per group, so even though I was visiting alone, I took the opportunity to sit down and enjoy one for myself.

I also made my way to the observation deck (pictured) behind the building. The deck there is larger than the Manten View Terrace, and is furnished with tables and chairs. On 8/8 (Sat.), 8/9 (Sun.), 8/15 (Sat.), and 8/16 (Sun.), the Shiga Kogen Tenku Festival 2026 will be held, with the Skylator operating until 10 p.m. (※Please note, the Yokoteyama No. 3 Sky Lift will not operate at night.)

Another way to reach the summit of Yokoteyama is via the Shibutoge No. 1 Romance Lift (pictured) from the Shibutoge side. To ease congestion, the Skylator and Yokoteyama No. 3 Sky Lift will operate for uphill travel only from 8/8 (Sat.) to 8/16 (Sun.). As such, visitors descending from the summit during that period will instead take this lift, then use a free shuttle bus back to the Yokoteyama Drive-In parking lot.

There’s also a trekking course that runs alongside the Shibutoge No. 1 Romance Lift. Today, Nikkokisuge were blooming along the lower section of the roughly 30-minute climb (pictured), with Miyama akinokirin-so appearing a little farther up. I passed quite a number of visitors enjoying a relaxing hike in light clothing thanks to today’s clear skies.
