The season is now down to its final week. Still-open facilities include: HAKUBA MOUNTAIN HARBOR, THE CITY BAKERY, HAKUBA DELI, Soup Stock Tokyo, Skyark Deck Café, CHAVATY HAKUBA (pictured), the Yoo-Hoo! Swing, the Base Center, and Iwatake no Yu. This morning, I spoke with a few staff members at CHAVATY HAKUBA (pictured) who told me, “The Amaou Sakura Tea Soft Serve could sell out within the next two to three days, so please come give it a try.”

All five open runs—South, East, North, VIEW C, and VIEW D—had softened groomed granular snow this morning, and the surface carried speed well across the mountain. Snow coverage on the south-facing South Slope is getting thin. The two mid-course routes, each about one groomer-width wide, had less snow than yesterday. The lower section (pictured) has also lost coverage since yesterday morning, and exposed ground is beginning to show.

The East Slope and North Slope still have solid coverage. On VIEW C and VIEW D, the lower sections were reduced to about half of their full width, but remained fully skiable. Along the 4-Line East lift, from up top down into the midsection, three mogul lanes have been set (pictured). With light visitor traffic and a moderate pitch—17 degrees max and 14 degrees on average—the setup is well suited for mogul training.

朝I met a family from Saitama (pictured) first thing in the morning who told me, “We’ve seen Snownavi before. We came to ski Iwatake and Tsugaike during our son’s spring break. It’s our first time back at Iwatake since before COVID, and we were surprised by the new gondola.” Later in the morning, the clouds cleared and blue sky opened up overhead.
