Happo REPORT

2026.08.30Happo-One / Clearing Skies

This year’s “Hakuba Mountain Festival” was held across two alternating stages at Usagidaira—the Sky Stage and Rooftop Stage (pictured). Unfortunately, the event coincided with a weekend of torrential rain across the Hokuriku region and surrounding areas, forcing the complete cancellation of the 8/29 (Sat.) program. Rain continued throughout the early morning on 8/30 (Sun.), when all 12 scheduled artists began performing, but the skies finally began to clear shortly after noon.

Food stalls and trucks lined the area from Usagidaira Terrace to the Alpen Quad Lift, serving everything from sandwiches and sweets to hamburgers, grilled beef skewers, and oyaki buns. (※ Sandwiches from Hakuba Hospitality Group pictured.) Northern Alps Brewery was also serving craft beer and soft drinks beside the Sky Stage. Throughout the day, plenty of visitors could be seen enjoying the live music along with food, drinks, and the fresh mountain air that makes Hakuba such a special setting.

DJ Dinosaur took the stage at 1:30 p.m., firing up the crowd with one familiar, upbeat track after another as the audience sang and danced along. Yusuke (pictured, right), who appeared at 3:25 p.m., followed with a powerful performance that had his many fans in the crowd especially excited.

The weather deteriorated again toward evening, but headliner Shonan no Kaze (pictured, background) delivered a commanding performance that more than made up for the rain. Fans waved towels overhead, while some groups even raised large flags above the crowd. Fireworks were launched after the final performance, but unfortunately the thick fog hid them from view, leaving only the powerful sound of the explosions echoing across the venue.
