The amount of fresh snowfall recorded at the Yuzawa Observation Station over the past 20 days has reached 125% of the seasonal average during the same period, clearly reflecting the heavy snow brought by three separate cold waves that have hit the area since 1/20 (Tue.). The snow tapered off last night, and this morning dawned calm and bright, but mostly cloudy skies. I started the day by taking the No. 4 Pair and then the No. 5 Quad, before carving wide first turns down the G Course (pictured), where the groomed packed powder was nicely firm and confidence-inspiring.

The H Course (pictured) is a beginner-friendly run that bypasses the intermediate G Course, with a maximum pitch of 20°, an average of 9°, and a total length of 1,600 m. This morning, the moderately soft packed powder surface offered a smooth, mellow feel underfoot, making for a relaxed and enjoyable descent. From here, linking into the F Course (third photo) and continuing all the way to the base makes for a satisfying 2.2 km run.

The towering snow walls alongside the F Course told the story of the recent heavy snowfall. Near the bottom of the run are dedicated areas for the kids-only “Napule Kids School” and the multilingual “NASPA International Kids School,” with the First Adventure Area located just to the south.

The E Course (pictured; max 30°, average 15°, 800 m), which follows the ridgeline down from the top stations of both the No. 3 Quad and No. 5 Quad lifts, offered the same nicely groomed packed powder as the G Course. Branching off near the top is the D Course (pictured, right), an ungroomed run and the steepest at NASPA, with a maximum pitch of 38°, an average of 16°, and a length of 750 m.
