HAKUBA OTHER REPORT

2026.05.28Hakuba Sweets / Sunny

At Sweet Shot, everything about the shop reflects a genuine warmth and honesty that feels quintessentially Hakuba. Their commitment to additive-free sweets, use of fresh local ingredients such as Shine Muscat grapes and Shinshu apples, handmade production by the owner every morning, gentle flavors with restrained sweetness, and affordable prices all come together to create a place that locals hold in deep affection. The four kinds of pound cake — matcha, fruit, chocolate, and orange (pictured) — are especially popular as souvenirs and gifts. (※ Rice flour roll cakes are also available.)

At Hakuba Farm Gelateria, handmade gelato is crafted using fresh milk along with fruits and vegetables harvested at Hakuba Farm, which has received certifications including “environmentally friendly agricultural products of Shinshu” and “Organic JAS.” The display case is filled with vividly colored gelato flavors including butterfly pea & white chocolate (pictured, right side) and beet & cream cheese (left side).

Opened in spring 2025, TABITABI Gelato & Dessert serves freshly made gelato, parfaits, cakes, baked sweets, and more, all carefully handmade using hazelnuts, chestnuts, and sweet potatoes grown at the company’s own Sakura Farm spread out beyond the windows. Guests can relax in the spacious interior (pictured, 18 seats) or on the terrace (12 seats) while enjoying specialties such as the “Freshly Pressed Aged Sweet Chestnut Mont Blanc” and seasonal parfaits.

At Hakuba SWEETS Kobo Ricca, the shop’s signature item is “Hakubaum,” a name created by combining “Hakuba” and “baumkuchen.” There are two varieties on offer: “Hakubaum (Honey),” generously made with local honey, and “Hakubaum (Yumeshinano),” made using Hakuba-grown rice. Each comes in three sizes — “Trunk” (pictured), “Branch,” and “Leaf.” (※ All wheat used is 100% grown in Nagano Prefecture.) All of these sweets are also available as gifts through Japan’s furusato nozei hometown tax donation program!

And with that, this year’s “Furusato Nozei Report Series” has officially begun once again!
*Hakuba is also home to Kurikuri Club, which sells carefully crafted cheesecakes made entirely to order. These rare sweets can be picked up by advance reservation, shipped nationwide, or received as a furusato nozei gift.
*If you would like to receive Hakuba sweets through the furusato nozei program, applications can be made through Furusato Choice.
Furusato nozei is a system that allows people to donate to their hometown or to municipalities they wish to support. In return, donors can receive gifts worth roughly 30% of the donation amount, while also benefiting from reductions in resident tax deductions and income tax refunds.
