This morning, high clouds hung overhead while a light southerly wind was blowing. I spoke with a pair of patrol members (pictured) who told me, “We always read Snownavi. We’re moving snow from the lower part of the Highway Course, which closed on 3/22 (Sun.), to help maintain snow coverage on the remaining runs. We’re working hard through the end of the season, so everyone reading Snownavi—please come out and ski with us!”

The Rabbit Course (pictured) was groomed with corn snow that had softened slightly. A family visiting all the way from Kagawa Prefecture (pictured) told me, “Resorts in western Japan have already closed, so we drove eight hours to come ski here. We’re staying for two nights starting today.” A mogul lane with a slightly softened surface had formed on the skier’s left side of the Rabbit Course.

I spoke with a couple from Kanagawa Prefecture (one pictured) who told me, “We’ve come to Hakunori three times this season because we want to ski with our dog. She loves being on the snow and always runs around full of energy.” The Hakunori Family Course also had groomed corn snow that had softened slightly and allowed for smooth, controlled turns.

The Wakaguri Central Slope (pictured) had loose, granular corn snow, while the tree-lined Wakaguri Forest Course had slightly softened corn snow. Snow coverage is thinning toward the bottom of both runs, but it was still possible to ski down to the bases of the No. 4 Pair, the Alps No. 5 High-Speed Pair, and the Alps No. 6 High-Speed Pair. Access to the No. 6 Pair requires detouring around the north side of the lift building.

*The Alps No. 11 Pair ended operations for the season on 3/8 (Sun.), the Alps No. 8 Pair on 3/20 (Fri., holiday), and the Alps No. 3 High-Speed Pair, the Alps No. 9 Pair, and the Alps No. 10 Pair on 3/22 (Sun.).
