Goryu47 REPORT

2023.03.24200cm / Cloudy

Heavy rain last night caused a disconnect between the upper portion and lower portion of the mountain on the Goryu side!? I spoke with a ski resort staff member who explained, “We had to close the course down to the bottom today due to the snow sliding in the middle of the course. It will be opened again as soon as we clean it up.” Today there was a bit of mist and drizzle falling on the slopes, but not enough to bother me.
[Upper Portion of Route 1]

I chatted with a skier who rode the Gondola Line-8 with me, who was talking about how foggy it was and because of the fog, he was going to stay off the chair lifts and stick to the gondola. Since the top half of the mountain was covered in thick fog, I kept my speed down as I skied on the upper portion of Route 1 (first photo), Route 5, and Route 6, where the groomed surfaces were composed of loose, granular snow.
[Route 6]

47PARKS, which underwent a major rebuild on 3/22 (Wed.) and 3/23 (Thu.), is now open again as of today! Furthermore, from 3/27 (Mon.) to 3/29 (Wed.), the only international slopestyle competition in Japan, COW DAY SLOPE, will be held here. I noticed a lot of skiers simply skiing through the park on their first run to feel things out before dropping in and engaging the elements on their second run-through.
[Route 4]

An instructor with the 47 Snowboard School told me, “We are currently offering kicker and ground trick lessons. We are looking forward to seeing everyone!” Route 2 and the lower part of Route 1 were left ungroomed. Conditions there were difficult, with a bumpy, uneven surface of had-packed granular snow all throughout.
