Goryu47 REPORT

2023.12.0690cm / Sunny

Goryu47 is easily accessible by car and currently has 12 runs open to skiers. At the moment, there is almost no snow or icy spots on the roads at the foot of the mountain, so getting to the resort is a breeze. Furthermore, two separate gondolas serve the slopes, so even if one is out of service, you can use the other. (If for some reason both are out of operation, Happo and Tsugaike are located nearby.) Right now, despite being early in the season, there is plenty of snow on the slopes as well.
[Upper Portion of Route 1]

It was a pleasant morning with clear skies, no wind, and cool, crisp air. I was greeted by a woman from Hakuba (pictured), who told me she was a fan of Snownavi, and added, “The snow quality is great again today! I am worried about the weather tomorrow, but I don’t think the conditions on the top half of the resort will deteriorate.” A low-pressure system is forecast to move north-northeast over the Sea of Japan and a cold front is expected to pass through tomorrow.
[Upper Portion of Route 8]

Although there has been no snowfall since 12/3 (Sun.), the upper portions of Route 1 (first photo) and Route 8 (second photo) had flatly groomed, moderately packed powder snow surfaces. My edges bit well, and my skis slid smoothly and comfortably. The views to the west were excellent, with the Ushiro-Tateyama Mountain Range (“Hakuba Sanzan” pictured) silhouetted against the bright blue sky.

The lower section of Route 8 (pictured) remains shaded for an extended amount of time, which kept the snow soft and powdery. Although the course is considered a beginner’s area, I was impressed to see advanced skiers going down the gentle groomed slope with shallow, snappy turns, playing with the terrain on the sides of the course, and making sharp carving turns around the hairpin curves.
