Hakuba Norikura REPORT

2024.01.26225cm / Sunny

After more than two full days of heavy snowfall, today’s sunny weather was a refreshing change. I spoke with a pair of skiers, one of whom was from Tokyo (pictured, right), and they told me, “I love your site. I am staying in Hakuba Village long-term and have a season ticket for the HAKUBA VALLEY. I am heading up to the Sky View slope now.”

Powder hunters were lined up for the 9th pair before the start of business this morning. A group of them told me they were fans of Snownavi, and one of them, a man from Kanagawa Prefecture (pictured, second from the left) said, “I lined up early in the morning to try and be one of the first on Sky View. Today’s lift ticket was an Advance Discount Lift Ticket I bought from Snownavi.” The Satomi Central Slope (pictured) and Hakunori Family Course (first photo) were both groomed with moderately soft powder snow surfaces that were easy to ski.

The Highway Course (pictured, third photo) and Kamoshika Course had moderately firm, groomed powder snow bases. The quality of the snow was good even after more and more tracks were laid, and I still able to enjoy comfortable, controlled turns. There was 15 to 20 cm of dry, fresh snow on the ungroomed portions to the sides of the course.

I had a chat with a staff member who was maintaining the mogul course on the second half of the Highway Course. They said, “We are preparing to open this weekend. We look forward to seeing all of you here” The Wakaguri Forest Course and Wakaguri Central Slope were also in good condition with moderately soft, groomed powder snow.
