Following the success of the Hakuba Valley Meets the Sea of Japan winter seafood festival, which was held from 2/10 (Sat.) to 2/12 (Mon.), the event for the three-day weekend that starts today! During the festival, a seafood stall will be open in front of Snowdrop. During the festival, seafood food stalls are open in front of Snowdrop, and the appetizing aroma of charcoal-grilled seafood wafts through the air.

At Snowdrop (the building pictured in the foreground), a goosefish burger and a rice bowl topped with crab and other seafood from the Sea of Japan are on the menu for a limited time only. (*Other seafood rice bowls were added to the regular menu on 2/10). I spoke with a staff member, who told me, “Today, tomorrow, and the day after we’ll demonstrate how to clean a goosefish at 1:00 p.m., and the day after tomorrow, we’ll demonstrate how to prepare a yellowtail at 11:00 a.m. Please come and check them out!

Later I had a conversation with three visitors from Gifu (pictured) that said, “We found out about this event yesterday and came here pretty excited. The grilled squid is delicious.” The seafood stalls also offered goosefish soup, tsukune (chicken meatball) skewers, grilled scallops, shrimp yakisoba, and steamed oysters. (I had the goosefish soup, which was very tasty!)

Let’s go back to the start of the day. I had a chat with the father of a family who was taking a walk before the opening of business, and was told, “I love your site! I keep coming back to Hakunori because I can ski with my dog Luke.” A season pass holder from Shiga Prefecture also told me they were a fan of Snownavi, and added “I love the relaxed vibes of Hakunori.” The well-packed, groomed granular snow on the Hakunori Family Course (pictured) and Wakaguri Central Slope was covered with about 5 cm of light, fresh snow.
