Palcall Tsumagoi REPORT

2026.02.01110 cm / Partly Cloudy

One of Palcall Tsumagoi Resort’s defining features is its long, uninterrupted descent accessed by the Kanto region’s longest gondola, stretching an impressive 3,193 m. From an elevation of 2,100 m, a comfortable slope angle of around 20 degrees continues endlessly below. After riding the Sunrise Gondola, which operates from 6:30 a.m. on Wednesdays, Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays, I linked together D-4 → D-3 (pictured) → D-8 → D-9 → C-1, enjoying the groomed runs covered in moderately firm, easy-to-edge powder snow.

As I emerged onto the east-facing C-1 (pictured), the sunrise straight ahead was truly striking. I shared the gondola with two skiers from Tokyo and Saitama, who told me, “We love Palcall Tsumagoi and have been season pass holders for many years. We added both a seasonal locker and the Sunrise Gondola option. The snow really lets your edges bite—it’s very easy to ski.”

Starting at 9 a.m. today, the “SUBARU Slope Taxi” event got underway, with the snow-capable vehicle accelerating from the start, powering uphill, and then throwing controlled snow drifts on the back straight to the delight of its passengers (pictured). I spoke with a couple visiting from Niigata, who said, “We came here specifically to ride the Slope Taxi. We were lucky enough to get one driven by the driver Mr. Arai— it was incredibly fun!” The same event will also be held on 2/7 (Sat.), and 2/8 (Sun.).

On A-1, the “ONI PARK” terrain park featured well-compacted, groomed powder snow. The first half (pictured) contains kickers and wave elements, while the latter half is laid out with jib features. Riding the No. 1 High-Speed Pair Lift, which began operating at 8:30 a.m., I saw the park diggers putting the final touches on the setup. After finishing my coverage, I headed straight for the line to ride the Slope Taxi myself.
