Hakuba Norikura REPORT

2026.03.18150 cm / Sunny

In the HAKUBA VALLEY, only Goryu 47 and Hakunori are still listed as “mostly open” (= 80% or more terrain skiable). As such, Hakunori is proving to be fairly resilient even in this warm, low-snow season. Today, I met two guests from Hakuba Village (pictured) who told me, “We always read Snownavi. We both have a HAKUBA VALLEY season pass. Hakunori is quiet today, and the surface has softened just enough to ski really well.”

It was a sunny day, with a pleasant southerly wind. I ran into a patrol member (pictured) who commented, “It suddenly turned warm yesterday, and the snow has started melting quickly.” Dirt that was not visible in my previous report had begun to appear on the lower part of the Wakaguri Central Slope. Even so, poles had been set up there to mark it off, so it did not interfere with skiing.

I spoke with two high school students from Osaka Prefecture (pictured) who said, “We hold a training camp on the Satomi Central Slope every year. With the snow getting thin, we’re planning to start training on the Wakaguri Central Slope today.” The Satomi Central Slope (pictured) was groomed with granular snow that had loosened into a dry, sandy texture.

The Highway Course (pictured) and the Kamoshika Course were both groomed with moderately firm corn snow, and I was able to make just the turns I wanted. The Rabbit Course had moderately soft, groomed corn snow, and the loose surface layer grew deeper the farther I skied down. By the time I entered the Wakaguri Central Slope, the groomed surface had completely turned loose and granular.
