Due to a low-pressure system and passing front from 9/20 (Sat.) to 9/21 (Sun.), the season’s first snowfall was recorded on 9/21 (Sun.) at Mt. Kurodake (1,984 m), the highest peak of the Daisetsuzan range in Hokkaido. The following morning, 9/22 (Mon.), the first ice of the season was confirmed at Murodo near the foot of Mt. Tateyama (2,450 m), and the first frost was observed at Tsurugaike Pond (2,696 m) on the Tatamidaira area of Mt. Norikura.
