Spring is the time for moguls! At Goryu47, the are currently well-formed moguls on the lower part of the Grand Prix Course (pictured), the Technical Course, and Route 3. This morning the temperature rose rapidly under calm, sunny skies with the distant scenery shrouded in a slight haze.

The groomed portion of the Grand Prix Course had a crusty, granular snow surface from the start of the day. On the other hand, the north-facing surface of the Panorama Course, located at about the same elevation, was packed more firmly. Both courses were well-maintained and I was able to comfortably ski at speed!

The upper portion of the groomed Route 8 had moderately packed granular snow at the beginning, and moderately loose granular snow towards the end (pictured). In other news, the “50th Able Hakuba Goryu Salomon Junior Cup” will be held tomorrow, 3/31 (Friday), on the skier’s right side of the Grand Prix course, despite usually taking place on the Toomi Slope.
[upper Portion of Route 8]

The ungroomed Dynamic Course had a bumpy, uneven, and crusty granular snow surface. The groomed Woody Course had a moderately loose surface on the first half, and crisper granular snow towards the end of the course. The Toomi Slope (pictured) was in spring slush conditions with some areas where the width of the course was quite narrow, but I was able to ski without damaging my skis.
