Goryu47 REPORT

2023.12.0985cm / Sunny

With the opening of the lower portion of Route 1 and Route 7 today, 12/9 (Sat.), Hakuba47 (pictured) is now “fully open,” meaning that more than 80% of the resort’s terrain is skiable. Among the country’s big resorts with a top-to-bottom elevation difference of more than 600m, 47 is the first to reach that benchmark this season! When combined with Able Hakuba Goryu, a total of 14 runs are now open to skiers and boarders at Goryu47.

As I was headed to the lower part of Route 1, I was greeted by a couple (pictured) who told me they were fans of Snownavi and added, “The middle section of Route 1 (pictured, background) was in great condition and easy to ski, with few people.” The lower part of Route 1 had a moderately firm snow surface towards the beginning that turned harder more from the middle to the end. There were some fallen leaves on the run here and there, but there were no exposed bushes or areas with thin snow cover.

Although there hasn’t been any significant new snowfall since 12/3 (Sun.), conditions on the top half of the mountain have remained good. The Panorama Course (pictured), had a perfect, evenly groomed surface with the same moderately firm powder snow conditions as the upper portion of Route 8 (4th photo)! I found it easy to ski comfortably at speed, especially with the fantastic weather.

The lower part of Route 8 had a groomed wet snow surface with a powdery feel, which was also easy to ski. The sunny weekend weather forecast mean turnout was good right from the morning. The No. 1 parking lot on the Goryu side was full by early morning, and by 10:00, so too was the No. 2 parking. After that, people were being directed to the No. 3 parking lot a little further away.
