I spoke with a staff member from the Togakushi Ski Resort, who told me, “There hasn’t been any accumulation on the slopes, but a light dusting of snow covered the peaks of Mt. Takatsuma and Mt. Togakushi. It melted away pretty quickly, though.” Nearby, a photographer setting up his tripod (pictured, green down jacket, far right) commented, “It’s so beautiful. If only the wind would calm down, it would be even better.” Despite it being a weekday, many photographers had already gathered around Kagami-ike Pond by 7 a.m.
