Akakura Kanko REPORT

2025.12.1990 cm / Sunny

Akakura Kanko Resort Ski Resort opened as scheduled on 12/19 (Fri.), and thanks to several solid rounds of snowfall on 12/4 (Thu.), 12/12 (Fri.) to 12/13 (Sat.), 12/15 (Mon.), and 12/18 (Thu.), AKAKAN was able to open up all runs for skiing straight from the opening day. I spoke with a male guest from Toyama Prefecture (pictured) who told me, “I always check your reports. I’m planning to take my certification test at AKAKAN this season, so I’m here today to get a feel for the slopes.”

Opening day delivered ideal skiing conditions with clear skies and calm winds. The Hotel C Course (pictured) was groomed with moist snow, with a flat surface on the upper section, and rolling undulations from the midsection through the lower part of the run. Similar undulations were also found on the Hotel B Course, Joshi Kokutai, the Hotel Main Slope, and the Hotel Beginner Course, which all featured groomed, moist snow surfaces. I personally enjoyed using the natural ups and downs to link turns across the slopes.

A few exposed bushes and thin snow cover could be seen in limited spots from the mid to lower section of the Hotel Main Slope and on the very bottom of the Hotel Beginner Course, but elsewhere snow coverage was solid, allowing me to ski with confidence and carry speed. Two restaurants were operating on opening day: Bakery & Table Akakura (first photo) and Sky Terrace.

Most of the skiers who rode the Hotel No. 5 Triple first thing in the morning headed straight for the Hotel A Course, where around 30 cm of new snow was waiting. And, when the Champion A Course opened at 10 a.m., eager skiers poured in all at once. By the way, the day after tomorrow, 12/21 (Sun.), is “Ski Kids’ Day,” where elementary school students can ride the lifts for free all day!
