Goryu47 REPORT

2023.01.06235cm / Snow Clouds

Wait, what’s up with those meager outfits on an extremely cold, early January morning? I asked that question to these 4 members of a 10-person group from Aichi Prefecture (pictured), and they explained, “We’re renting outerwear, but in order to waste as little time as possible, we went ahead and took off the warm stuff we wore here so that we can put on the ski wear and go straight to the slopes.”
[Lower Portion of Route 1]

This morning, light snow was falling, and the air was chilly on the mountain. I had a conversation with a family from Hyogo Prefecture (pictured), who told me, “We love your site. We’ve been skiing every day since New Year’s Day, and we come to Hakuba every week during the season, so we’ll be back again next week!” I had a great time running speedy laps on the upper portion of Route 1 (pictured), as well as on Route 5 and 6, which were groomed with moderately firm powder snow surfaces!
[Upper Portion of Route 1]

I barely emerged up above the fog while getting off at the top of Line-E, but quickly re-entered it around the midpoint of the Panorama course. Both the Panorama Course and Route 8 were in great condition, with 1 to 2cm of fresh, dry snow on Panorama, and moderately firm, groomed powder snow surfaces on both.
[Upper Portion of Route 8]

On the way back down to the base, I popped out below the clouds on the top half of Route 2, which had about 2 cm of fresh snow covering the lightly undulating base. I talked with a father from Osaka (pictured, left), who said, “I’ve run into reporters from Snownavi before. Today is the third and final day of our stay, but the conditions are great, so I wish we could stay a little longer!”
