Situated midway between these ski resorts-which boast some of the heaviest snowfall in Japan-it offers easy, uncrowded access to all three. Another highlight is the high-quality restaurants, shops, and food markets in the area, which serve fresh local seafood at reasonable prices rather than the typical tourist-area markups.
