Iwatake REPORT

2025.05.01Sunny

Several tipi tents, which made their debut at Iwatake in December of 2024, are now permanently installed at the summit of Iwatake (pictured) following the close of the snow season. Both inside and outside the tents, you’ll find the Swiss-made wood grill system “Fire Bowl,” the compact “Tipi” and “Quad” outdoor stoves, and the large outdoor stove “Quaruba.” The setups not only serve as rest and relaxation areas but also offer guests the chance to enjoy campfire experiences with food and drink.

The campfire experience menu includes a pizza-making activity (¥3,000), marshmallow roasting (¥500 per stick), popcorn (¥1,000), AeroPress© Go coffee (pictured, ¥1,000), drip coffee (¥500), and Soup Stock Tokyo portions (¥1,000). All of these can be enjoyed casually and comfortably with the support of staff.

Today I tried the AeroPress© Go coffee. The process involves adding Hakuba DELI ORIGINAL DRIP COFFEE into a cylinder fitted with a filter, pouring in hot water, and pressing down to brew (pictured). Compared to drip coffee, it delivers a delicious cup in less time! The experience set also comes with a slice of traditional Japanese yokan (sweet bean jelly).

HAKUBA MOUNTAIN HARBOR (pictured) was bustling with visitors right from the opening. The view of the Hakuba Sanzan (three major Hakuba peaks) and the rest of the Ushiro-Tateyama mountain range was stunning, drawing excited comments like “Amazing!” and “It’s so beautiful!” from visitors gathered on the deck. In other news, details about the opening acts and more for the 2025 edition of the “HAKUBA Yoo-Hoo! FESTIVAL” have been announced, with the live music and other events set for 5/17 (Sat.) and 5/18 (Sun.). It promises to be a fun-filled weekend!
