This report is a special feature on HAKUBA MOUNTAIN HARBOR. Visitors are free to enter both the facility’s terrace and indoor seating as soon as the Iwatake Gondola begins operating at 8:30 a.m. On the terrace (pictured), guests are welcome to bring their own food and drinks, and pets are also allowed. Oon days when the sun is strong, black sunshades are set up on the north side of the deck for comfort. (Photo taken at 8:50 a.m.).

Today, despite it being a weekday, a steady stream of visitors arrived, and by 10:30 a.m., the line of people waiting to enter THE CITY BAKERY stretched across nearly half of the entrance bridge. Just outside the frame to the far right of the photo is a new restroom completed in autumn of 2024. Today, with pleasant sunny skies, the view of the Northern Alps from the Glacier Deck (pictured) was spectacular.

THE CITY BAKERY opens daily at 9:00 a.m. I spoke with a staff member who shared, “We have biscuits, scones, ‘Hakuba Ham & Cheddar Cheese Croissant Pressed Sandwiches, and Tuna & Spinach Hot Sandwiches ready right at the opening. Around 10:45 a.m., we bake fresh batches of our Baker’s Muffins and Chocolate Croissants. We hope you’ll come by and enjoy them hot out of the oven.” (Photo taken at 10:15 a.m.)

On 5/17 (Sat.) and 5/18 (Sun.), the Sky Arc deck area (pictured, background) will host free live performances by Kano Nojima, Beverly, NOBU, and nobodyknows+, along with GOMA’s live painting, traditional Otari taiko drumming, cheerleading shows, scenic yoga sessions, and other evening events!
