Down at the base area, the old gondola station is undergoing renovation, and is set to transform into a new Base Center (pictured). Once completed, it will feature a spacious shop selling Hakuba’s local specialty products, sweets, pickles, snow sports gear, and more. New facilities will also include a SPICY RENTALS rental shop, a ticket center, changing rooms, and lockers—making it convenient hub for visitors.

At the dog run near the entrance to the Nezuko-no-mori forest (pictured, free of charge), a woman visiting from Omachi City (pictured, left) told me, “I always follow your updates. I’ve come here in winter with my dog, Alp, to go snowshoeing. I didn’t know such a spacious dog run was available in summer!” The weather was perfect for playing today, with the sun coming in and out and a refreshing, cool breeze blowing.

Around 9:00 a.m., I observed a visitor taking commemorative photos of their dogs on the protruding deck area at HAKUBA MOUNTAIN HARBOR (pictured). When the clouds over the Ushiro-Tateyama ridgeline briefly cleared, excited voices rang out saying things like, “Those are the main Hakuba peaks!” and “This is the view I saw on social media!” The number of visitors increased gradually, and the area didn’t really come alive until around 10:00 a.m.

Meanwhile, at the same time (around 10:00 a.m.), Hakuba Hitotoki-no-mori was still quiet. A group of three visitors from Hiroshima (pictured) told me, “We just bought Kuromoji soft serve and Kyoho grape–mint tea soft serve at CHAVATY HAKUBA. They smell wonderful and taste amazing!”
