Goryu47 REPORT

2024.01.10165cm / Snowy

It was nice waking up to more snow than was expected! It seemed that the snow really started to accumulate after the groomers had finished because the amount of new snow on the groomed and ungroomed sections of the Panorama Course was about the same; around 20cm. The falling snow made it feel a little dark outside, but I was still able to clearly see the snow surface.

I ran into a pair of snowboarders from Azumino and Hakuba (pictured), who were the first on the Panorama Course. They greeted me saying they were fans of Snownavi, and empathizing that it must be hard to take photos in the snow. The Panorama Course (pictured) felt great, with a flatly-groomed powder snow surface topped with around 20cm of new snow.

The Grand Prix Course also had about 20cm of fresh snow on top of a moderately firm, groomed powder snow base, and I was able to link controlled, comfortable turns. The ungroomed Dynamic Course (pictured) had 15 to 20 cm of fresh snow on top of the hard packed moguls that had formed on the course. I spoke with four residents of Hakuba (pictured), who told me, “We love your site. We’re heading down to the base of the mountain, then going back up and over to the 47 side!”

The Woody Course, Toomi Slope, Powder Snow Course (pictured), Soft Cream Course, and Merry Land Course all had moderately firm, groomedwet snow surfaces topped with about 5cm of fresh wet snow. Both the Merry Land and Soft Cream courses were busy with international guests taking lessons during the morning.
