Goryu47 REPORT

2024.01.25250cm / Snowy

The arrival of the strongest cold wave of the season has brought heavy snow to the area yesterday and today. With dry snow still coming down hard, I started the morning by heading over to the area along Iimori’s Cosmo Four Lift. This morning, the Snow Diving Course, Sunnyway Course, DISCOVERY, and DISCOVERY SPORT (pictured) were groomed, while DEFENDER was ungroomed.
[DISCOVERY SPORT]

DISCOVERY SPORT (pictured) had around 5 to 10 cm of light, fresh snow on top of a moderately firm, groomed powder snow base that I found was great for having fun and getting used to the fresh snow. From there I dropped into the ungroomed DEFENDER and was treated to 25 to 30 cm of new, fluffy snow covering soft tracks and surface bumps!

When I got off the Goryu Telecabin, which had been delayed for about 30 minutes due to a lengthy safety inspection, there was a strong, cold north wind blowing. It was hard to see the boundary between the ungroomed and groomed snow due to the heavy snow and thick fog. My excitement grew as I spied the untouched snow spreading before me along the Alps 3rd Pair and on the Technical Course.
[Alps 3rd Pair]

I was not disappointed. The ungroomed area along the Alps 3rd Pair (pictured) had around 50 cm of fresh, fluffy snow, and I was treated to fantastic floating runs without so much as bottoming out! Both the Dynamic and Expert courses were also ungroomed, with each having 40 to 50 cm of fresh snow. In other news, “GORYU WAVES” will open this weekend on 1/27 (Sat.) along the Toomi 1st Pair! (A photo session event will be held on the opening day.)
