Kurohime REPORT

2025.12.2860 cm / Mostly Sunny

Following the heavy snowfall from 12/26 (Fri.) to 12/27 (Sat.), Kurohime Kogen Snow Park officially opened on 12/27 (Sat.) with “fully open” status. I spoke with a staff member from the Kurohime Snowboarding School, who told me, “The grooming is clean and the snow surface is really easy to ski—carving turns lock in perfectly.” As I set off down Leo (pictured), the groomed, packed powder snow created a smooth, confidence-inspiring ride.

Monkey, which was also groomed, offered the same easy-to-ski conditions with powder snow packed to just the right firmness. About 5 cm of slightly moist new snow lay on top of the gentle, soft undulations along the sides of the course. Laughter filled the air at the Kurohime Family Park (pictured), where conditions were great with a moderately compacted, groomed powder surface.

I spoke with a mother from the town of Shinano, who commented, “At first my kids said, ‘We want to stay home and play video games, so we don’t want to go,’ but once they started playing on the sleds, they looked like they were having a great time.” The boy on the left (pictured), added with a big smile, “I’m having a lot of fun!”, then took off energetically down the slope on a panda sled.

I caught up with an instructor from the Kurohime Ski School (pictured), who said, “I skied at a resort with man-made snow a little while ago, but the natural snow here at Kurohime is much better.” On Mouse (pictured), the groomed powder snow let my edges bite into the surface as if they were being drawn in. As temperatures climbed steadily through the morning, the snow surface had become noticeably moist by around 10 a.m., when I wrapped up my reporting.
