Goryu47 REPORT

2026.01.31310 cm / Snow Clouds

Before the resort opened this morning, I spoke with a snowboarder at the gondola base station who said, “When I looked at Goryu’s live camera, it seemed pretty windy up top. I’m hoping the upper lifts can run today…” Strong westerly winds were indeed blowing across the mid to upper slopes, but all lifts — including Gondola Line-8 and Line-C — began operating right on schedule.

With a powerful cold air mass firmly in place and most slopes facing north, Hakuba 47 continues to deliver some of the best slope conditions anywhere in the HAKUBA VALLEY. This morning, Route 2 (pictured) was groomed into well-set, packed-powder snow, and around 3 to 5 cm of light new snow had accumulated on both the upper and lower sections of this north-facing run (pictured), while the west-facing middle section (third photo) had only a light dusting of up to 1 cm.

Routes 5 and 6 were also very easy to ski, with 2 to 3 cm of light new snow sitting on top of well-set, powder-packed grooming. On the lower section of Route 8, moderately firm groomed powder was topped with uneven patches of light new snow ranging from 1 to 10 cm. On the lower section of Route 1, the beginning had firmer groomed snow mixed with machine-made snow, while the mid to lower sections transitioned into well-set, powder-packed snow.

As I rode back up on Line-C, patches of blue sky began to appear above. “Yesterday we had soft, fluffy powder, and today the grooming is absolutely perfect,” said a man riding with me on Line-C. From there, I started thinking it might be time to finally check out the Adventure Course leading down toward the Iimori area. From what I could see this morning, it had developed an uneven base topped with 15 to 20 cm of new snow, with the surface slightly packed.
