Light, dry snow continued to fall this morning, and 47 PARKS — the largest snow park in the Hakuba area and one of the biggest in Japan — was buzzing again today. Following its reopening on 1/22 (Thu.), the park now features a total of 20 items spread across the advanced, intermediate, and beginner lines. At the very top, a halfpipe-style terrain feature (pictured), now fully built out thanks to the season’s strongest and longest cold wave, was also in excellent shape.

The biggest draw was the 12 m kicker (pictured) in the advanced line. With plenty of experienced park riders out, even a kicker of this size saw a steady flow of riders, and the speed and height of the jumps were genuinely impressive. The intermediate line was set with 6 m and 7 m kickers, while the beginner line featured a 2 m kicker.

Jib features were especially abundant, with a wide variety centered on rails. Standout elements included a 7 m up-rail with a lifted tip in the advanced line, a two-tier WD rail (fourth photo), a stepped flat-down box in the intermediate line, and a drum barrel positioned near the end. The layout felt well balanced, making it easy for riders of all levels to lap the park on repeat without getting bored.

The snow park itself was groomed into well-set, powder-packed snow that provided excellent glide and made it easy to carry speed into each feature. Routes 5, 6, and 7 were also groomed into firm, powder-packed conditions. With consistent January-like cold continuing, frost-covered trees remained on display across the mid to upper slopes.
