Goryu47 REPORT

2026.01.25300 cm / Snowy

A huge amount of new snow piled up from yesterday through this morning, pushing the officially announced base depth at Goryu 47 past the 300 cm mark. With a prime powder day lining up perfectly with a Sunday, visitors arrived very early, and a long line had already formed at Gondola Line-8 when operations began. Across the mid to upper slopes, dry snow continued to fall, carried on a light but biting northerly wind.

Riders getting off Line-C, which started running at 8:20 a.m., raced toward Routes 2 (pictured) and 3. Route 2 delivered fast, confidence-inspiring powder, with 15 to 20 cm of light new snow sitting on moderately firm, powder-packed grooming. The sight of skiers charging down in one go, cheers echoing and snow spraying into the air, was unforgettable.

From the lower section of Route 2, the ungroomed shortcut leading back to the gondola station, along with Route 3, offered around 40 cm of deep, fluffy powder. Dense fog hung over the upper section of Route 2 (pictured) and above the upper portion of Route 1. Routes 5, 6, and the lower section of Route 8 were topped with 2 to 3 cm of dry new snow, and groomed with moderately firm powder conditions, while the lower section of Route 1 had 10 to 15 cm of dry new snow on top of a packed-powder groomed surface.

The Tree Riding Zone (TRZ, pictured) was another popular draw. To access TRZ, riders first must watch the safety video posted on the official website, review the consent form, and submit an application online. After that, an armband can be picked up at the reception desk on the second floor of Restaurant ALICE for ¥500 (no application required on future visits). Later in the morning, a man who had just come down through TRZ told me, “The deep, fluffy powder was incredible! I’m heading back up for another lap.”
