Just as the number of international visitors — which tends to peak in December and January — begins to taper off, groups of domestic students will start arriving from mid-February. That means the window to enjoy quiet, uncrowded slopes on weekdays may be growing short. This morning, the stillness of the upper mountain, the return of frost-covered trees, and softly falling, fluffy snow all combined into a scene that felt especially serene.
[Route 7]

Thick fog initially covered the upper slopes, but it began to clear before 9:00 a.m. The upper section of Route 1, along with Routes 5 and 6 (pictured), were groomed into well-set, easy-to-ski powder snow. Each time I set an edge, the two 2 to 3 cm of light new snow on top lifted gently into the air.
[Route 6]

The lower section of Route 8 (pictured) had moderately firm powder grooming that was topped with 2 to 3 cm of light new snow, and it also delivered smooth, enjoyable turns. The lower section of Route 1 was lightly dusted with new snow, and had a firm, groomed powder base from top to bottom, with no hard patches from machine-made snow and consistently easy skiing all the way down.
[Lower Route 8]

Riding up on Line-C, the expansive, pure-white scenery spreading out in every direction was truly impressive. Looking ahead, the Hakuba 47 Snowboard School will host the “Jr. & Beginner Slalom Camp & Competition” this weekend, 2/7 (Sat.) & 2/8 (Sun.). In addition, the “‘26–27 OGASAKA SKI New Model Ski Test Ride” will take place over three days, from 2/6 (Fri.) to 2/8 (Sun.), on the lower section of the Toomi Slope.
